The UTG Bugbuster is sold everywhere, but no where are there more reviews than on Amazon. With over 1300 customers adding their thoughts, you can get a very good handle on where this scope shines, and where it falls short. We think it's worth it if you're vigilant about the product you get, and don't mind a chance that you may have to swap it out under warranty.

UTG is well known for making inexpensive scopes. They’re an American company, based in Michigan. They design and manufacture scopes in China and in the US. Their parent company, Leapers, inc., operates a sister brand to UTG, UTG Pro, a premium line of scopes.

UTG builds many different product lines, but none is more popular than the BugBuster. An extremely inexpensive mult-power scope, the BugBuster holds a distinct advantage in its price band by offering an adjustable objective, removing parallax issues from 3-yards to the end of your shooting capabilities.

UTG test their scopes for durability, including designing them to be tough, then validating through shock-and-vibe and other R&D methodologies. This allows them to keep prices low, and quality up. The BugBuster is no exception. Integrating their True Strength platform, this rifle scope focuses on the joints of the scope, ensuring rigidity while shooting, and precise accuracy over time. One thing that stands out is that Leapers/UTG tests these scopes on air rifles. “Why air rifles, they don’t have any recoil,” you might ask. Well, they don’t have much punch, but they also recoil forward, which, as most shooters know, is a scope-killer. They also test these scopes on high caliber rifles, ensuring that they can take the punishment of any firearms.

Verdict

This is a great product for the money. It is rare to find a scope this cheap that has near universal acclaim. Shooters know what they’re getting. There have been batches where some users get their scope with a reticle that is off-angle, but returning the scope was painless and getting a replacement was still preferable to spending twice as much for the same features. If you’re looking for cheap optics for your cheap AR build, this is a perfect match. If you don’t want to mount a scope that costs as much as your rifle, the UTG Bugbuster is one of the best you can get.
